The reflection and interpretation of my own memory is an important motivation within my artistic work. I’m aiming somehow the reduction of personal matters to a kind of steady content of truth and a symbolic expression, which is commonly understood. In this sense my pictures are to be seen as concentrates, which refer to many different levels of interpretation besides the personal one. Being autonomous objects of art, they provoke new topics to be looked at by posing themselves questions, giving the answers, too.

In “Kosmos” I focus on a particular section of an urban environment – on playground objects made of stainless steel, of which I took pictures in the last hours of the daylight for the purpose of showing their unusual but in the broader sense maybe “true face“. In these hours a change takes place: the light leaves, the darkness arrives. This composition lets the objects shine. The space disappears as a result of the reduction of the light. What remains, is the exaggerated form of the objects. Due to his property, the playground equipment allows us an access into an unusual world, or rather said into a forgotten or an unlearned world. It leads us back to the haptic, back to the time when it wasn’t necessery to think about essential things; back to the time when one wanted to feel. Simultaneously, because of the way the photographs were taken, we feel the unknown of that distant period, the estrangement caused by memories.
